Americans can't shine.
We've failed in so many ways ever since the Civil War.
It's not even funny.

Re: THE WORLD MUST KNOW!!!
The proposed SOPA legislation gives the U.S. government and copyright holders the authority to seek court orders against websites associated with infringing, pirating or counterfeiting intellectual property. Critics of the bill say that it creates the building blocks for a great American firewall that will curb creativity, cost jobs and curb free speech.
Major game companies Nintendo, Sony and EA reportedly removed their individual support for SOPA in the past week, but in an update, EA said that story was incorrect, because it had never expressed support for the Senate version of SOPA, but rather for something similar to it.
So after reading that quote and watching that video that you had posted Hobbbess, I have compiled somewhat as close to a rational thought as possible.
Understandably, the government wants to prevent online piracy. Thus, they created the bill called "SOPA" which is what is under debate. The only issue about this is the fact that almost anything can be claimed as "copyright infringement".
Amateur game reviews, movie reviews, or anything using the likeness of movies and games or any other media without the consent of the owner can be processed as copyright infringement. In doing so, the owner or company can ask to have that material pulled without question.
The video that Hobbbess has posted even provided an example as to what happened regarding the song on Youtube produced mentioning Megaupload.
This whole debate is completely bogus. I agree that companies have the right to protect their product/service but agreeing to a bill like SOPA only leads to more piracy.
A real life situation that can be compared to this would be the Prohibition Laws that had passed so long ago in The United States of America. Booze was outlawed, but guess what. People drank even more, and organized crime further progressed this movement by smuggling alcohol.
So we're back to basics when it comes to attempting to maintain piracy. What should we do about it? There's not much we "can" do when it comes to monitoring every multimedia medium. Like the video stated, "[We] can only provide a better service [to prevent piracy]."
